Some popular curriculum: (Please contact the admin of this site to suggest other curriculum to add to the list)
Much of our curriculum is a hybrid of different styles. However, when applicable, I have best tried to indicate whether the curriculum's approach is closest to...T=Traditional, C=Classical, CM=Charlotte Mason, US=Unit Studies. Also, keep in mind that some curriculum teaches from a Christian view , and some secular. This view may have a bigger impact in some subjects like science and history, compared to math or spelling. However, it is important to consider the view and how it will affect your teaching when choosing your curriculum.
All Inclusive Core Curriculum (Complete or nearly complete grade level packages):
Traditional: Abeka, Rod & Staff (could also be considered Classical with a more classroom feel), Bob Jones,
Classical and/or Charlotte Mason: My Fathers World, Simply Charlotte Mason, Sonlight, Memoria Press, The Well-Trained
Mind/ PeaceHillPress, Veritas Press, Ableside Online
History: History is often included if you buy a core package. In some of the homeschool approaches, which era of history you choose will dictate many of your other subjects. In other words, you might study ancient history along with Egyptians, Egyptian art, the book of Genesis, the first known instruments, literature about Egypt and the desert, geography lessons about Egypt and Africa, etc. Decide if you enjoy literature-based VS textbook-based, Christian VS secular, and overall view of history VS unit studies. (In other words, do you want to study history in chronological eras or by topic?)
My Father's World (Christian, combination of literature and unit study)
Simply Charlotte Mason (Christian with overall view and completely literature-based.)
Abeka (Christian, Traditional)
Story of the World (Classical, Chronological, Christian, overall view. SOTW is a textbook with suggested literature)
Mystery of History (Christian. Presents chronological approach to history. Probably closest to classical mixed with unit studies)
Veritas Press
